Paris, November 6, 2023 – The Royal Commission for Riyadh City, responsible for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host World Expo 2030, held a remarkable closing ceremony for the bid campaign in Paris today.

The event was attended by Their Highnesses and Excellencies, including ministers and a senior Saudi delegation, alongside representatives from the member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). Senior French officials, representatives from major international organizations, and diplomats from foreign missions in France were also present.

During the ceremony, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Kingdom’s bid reflects the commitment of H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to deliver an extraordinary World Expo characterized by innovation and an exceptional visitor experience.

Prince Faisal noted that this closing ceremony precedes the final voting later this month to select the host city. He emphasized that the event showcased the Kingdom’s dedication to meeting BIE’s technical and organizational standards while fulfilling the aspirations of member states.

The Kingdom is set to uphold the highest sustainability standards at Riyadh Expo 2030, ensuring fairness in pavilion distribution and technology use. With the full backing of its leadership, collaboration between government institutions and the private sector, and the enthusiasm of Saudi citizens, the Kingdom aims to host the most impactful World Expo.

The ceremony reviewed Riyadh’s preparations, its readiness to host the event, and its adherence to BIE obligations for competing nations. The main theme of Riyadh Expo 2030 is “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” with subthemes including “A Better Tomorrow,” “Climate Action,” and “Prosperity for All.”

An exhibition showcased the growth and urban transformation of Riyadh, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s vision for an Expo that connects the world and engages both local and international companies in the development of the Expo site. The ceremony also featured a captivating live performance that celebrated the Kingdom’s rich art, culture, and music.

Riyadh Expo 2030 will allow both developed and developing countries to participate under the Kingdom’s “One Country, One Pavilion” initiative, alongside the Collaborative Change Corner (C3), a dedicated space designed to foster innovation and international collaboration in scientific, social, and technical advancements.
